Japanese company launches polyester clothing in India, the U.S.
Japan’s Mitsubishi Polyester Films Co., Ltd.
(MPSF) on Monday launched polyester-based underwear for its employees and customers in India and the U-S.MPS is a division of Mitsubishis Polyester Corp., Ltd., based in Nagoya, Japan.
The company said the new line of polyester underwear will be available in the United States and in India later this year.
It is the second Japanese company to launch polyester products in India.
It had launched polyesters in India last year and in 2018.
Mitsubishi, which has a global workforce of more than 2.5 million people, has a long history of manufacturing polyester apparel in India in an effort to compete with rivals such as the US-based company Adidas, which had a presence in the country for more than two decades.
MPSF said it will also expand its manufacturing operations in India to meet demand for polyester footwear, which the company uses in its products.
Polyester is a synthetic material that is a natural insulator, as well as an excellent insulator of water, oil and air, making it one of the best insulating fabrics for footwear.
Mpsf said its products are made using a process that requires little labor.
Mpssf has a large global manufacturing capacity, including in China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Australia and Brazil.
Mpsf will also sell polyester clothes in India by selling polyester fabric and polyester materials through its online platform, which will be used by its employees, customers and suppliers to manufacture and sell its products in the domestic market.
The online platform will allow Mpssubishi to offer its products through the same channels it does with its online website, Mpsi.com, MPSi said.
