Cotton Polyester sheets may be the solution to cotton allergies, says doctor

In an online review of nearly 2,000 people with severe cotton allergy, allergist Dr. Robert Hennelly of Mayo Clinic North American Center for Allergy and Immunology and his team found that CP sheets were effective at reducing symptoms in 70 percent of people who were allergic to cotton.
The study, published in the Journal of Allergy & Infectious Diseases, looked at more than 4,000 CP-containing polyester allergy sufferers in the United States and found CP sheets helped reduce symptoms in 65 percent of those who were moderately allergic.
The study also showed that CP sheet use in the study was more effective than using cotton-free sheets.
Hennelly said CP sheet usage was more efficient at reducing allergy symptoms in the participants who were moderate-to-severe allergic.
“It’s really good news because it means there are fewer people out there who are really struggling,” Hennick said.
“But it does raise the question of whether it’s going to be effective in people who are severe.”
Hennick also said that CP-based sheets may not be a long-term solution to CP allergy.
“I do think that CP should be used more as a treatment option than as a replacement for cotton,” Hernick said, adding that he thinks CP is just as effective as cotton for people with CP allergy, but that CP’s benefits are more limited.
Henny said the research team is currently testing other CP-related products for CP-allergic people.
Henna said there are many ways to use CP to treat CP allergy symptoms.
“You can use it as a barrier, a barrier of protection to your skin to try to get rid of your pollen or dust,” Henna said.
You can use CP as a natural barrier or as a substitute for cotton in the form of polyester fibers.
And you can use a combination of both.
“Henna added that while CP sheets are effective, CP use is best when used as a last resort.”
We have to do more than just treat the symptoms,” Hensi said.”
What I think is most important is to recognize that we’re using an allergy treatment and to understand what’s going on in your body and then get treatment.
